You don't see many of these around anymore, especially in this condition. It runs great, and operates the way it should. Overall the Speedcat is in very good to excellent condition. The tracks are in very good shape with all new pins as the photos show. 900 lb load to a height of over 8 ft, as you can see in the photo, so is able to load 1 ton dump trucks and dump trailers easily. There is a padded cover over the original steel seat for both looks and operator comfort. Attach a tooth bar to the bucket and it would really dig in! There are no leaks. The hydraulic arms have down pressure for digging, and the bucket is also hydraulic. Transmission shifts and operates smoothly with no issues. It has a three speed gear box, plus reverse, and hi/low range in all gears. Electric starter could very easily be added, if desired. It starts with 1 or 2 easy pulls, so the rope start works out just fine. You be the judge on that! The motor runs beautifully and does not smoke or leak oil. I assume that the machine is also a 1946 as the entire unit looks original, (except for new restorationparts of course!), but then, if you go by the serial # 6086, it may be a 1960 model. Recent researchconfirms that the motor is a 1946 model rated at 5.9 hp. It has the tried and true, old reliable workhorse, Wisconsin industrial engine in it. Size: it fits perfectly inside my Ford F250 short bed pickup box (with tailgate down). Machine was completely gone over and restored 3 years ago with new parts as needed, clutch, bearings, all new hydraulic hoses, most fittings, majority of all nuts and bolts as well, and complete new paint in original style. These little crawlers were built like little tanks, and built to stand up to heavy work. It is small, but very heavy duty, and will do a lot of work, as good as any modern machine in its’ category. A super vintage collector piece for show or work! It is a small machine about the size of a standard garden tractor, similar in size to the old Agricat loaders from the 50's or newer Magnatrac loaders made here in Wisconsin. Up for sale is my 1946? Mead Speedcat tracked mini loader.
